Handel's Messiah in Franschhoek

The beautiful grounds of Lac de la Lune in Franschhoek will be opened for the first time to host a special Christmas presentation of Handel’s Messiah on Sunday 4 December at 4.30pm

The Messiah, undoubtedly one of the most well loved pieces of sacred music, was also a favorite of the composer who wrote it in just 24 days. Handel is regarded as one of the most respected composers of all time, receiving recognition from the likes of Mozart, Beethoven and Haydn who said, “He is indeed, the father of us all.”

The Canticum Novum Choir will be accompanied by the University of Stellenbosch Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Louis van der Watt alongside a stellar lineup of soloists: Louise Howlett, Jen Kummer, Siphesihe Mdena and Thesele Kemane.

Lac de La Lune (Lake of the Moon) is situated near the entrance to Franschhoek off Cabriere and Kruger Streets at 7 Anne Marie, and is surrounded by breathtaking views of the mountains.
